JULY 2010 REUNION

The annual Twist and Velma Huntington Reunion was held July 17th in Hatch, UT, on Lowder's lawn. (Thank you, Lowder family, for allowing us to do that!) There were about 50 people attending. Aunt May was in the hospital and has been ill for some time, so she was not able to do it this year. So some of the Allreds took it over a few weeks ago.
Because everything was so last-minute, it was decided to make things as simple as possible. E-mails were sent to see what day would be the best, and it was determined that the 17th worked out for the majority of the family. We missed those of you who couldn't come.
We had a potluck lunch that began at noon, and found out there are a lot of good cooks in the family. Everyone was asked to bring their own chairs, although some brought extra chairs for those who forgot or didn't have any.
It was brought to a vote before the family to discontinue passing the reunion from child to child of Twist and Velma, and instead, to have a committe with one member of each family representing the others. The others in those families should let them know their likes, dislikes, what they would like to see happen in future reunions, etc. We did not have a program, games for the children, nor the usual music fest for two reasons - either we didn't have enough notice to plan them, or because of the rain that came. If anyone would still like to do something at the reunion, such as dutch oven, they could let the committee know. They could still do that if they wanted to. We will try to get the town pavillion in the future, but this year they are doing construction there.
Despite the rain, we were able to eat and get some visiting in, but soon the downpour drove us off, and we ended a little bit early, although relatives gathered at Karleta's and Beth's homes to continue visiting.
